Workplace Violence in Healthcare Facilities

Three quarters of workplace assaults occur in healthcare settings. Healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, nursing homes, urgent care clinics, and doctors' offices, can be more prone to violence due to impatient family members or unruly or unstable patients. In this course, healthcare workers are taught the importance of their participation in preventing and controlling violence. One way in which violence can be prevented is an OSHA-recommended violence prevention program for the facility. Another method shown in this training is the importance of employee education and training. Included in this training are methods for responding to violence.
