COURSE OVERVIEW

According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 20.5 million people aged 16 or older drove under the influence of alcohol in the past year and 12.6 million drove under the influence of illicit drugs. As a supervisor of those with safety-sensitive positions, such as operating a motor vehicle, you have an obligation to address a situation if you have reasonable suspicion to suspect an employee is abusing alcohol or other drugs and they are under the influence. This course discusses reasonable suspicion testing based on DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements for the workplace. This course covers what is meant by "reasonable suspicion," how to recognize signs and symptoms of substance abuse and approaching the matter with an employee. Use this course, particularly among your management staff, for consistent guidance and training on what to do should they suspect an employee is abusing drugs or alcohol..
