COURSE OVERVIEW


Personal protective equipment is the only defense against the Ebola virus and other hazards encountered while providing health care. This video training discusses routes of exposure including inhalation, ingestion, absorption and injection. Viewers learn about infection control through the use of various types of respirators: SCBA, SAR, APR and approved CBRN units. The video explains protective clothing and double-gloving, levels and classes of protective ensembles, pre-entry assessment of protective ensembles. Viewers are trained in the procedures for donning PPE, problems that may be encountered while wearing PPE and decontamination and doffing PPE. This video provides a deep dive into the PPE health care workers and other first responders must be familiar with when working with Ebola patients or others with infectious conditions.
