COURSE OVERVIEW
Oil Spill Cleanup Response: Waste Management is part of a five part oil spill cleanup training series, created with the assistance of the US Coast Guard. It provides important health and safety information for oil spill cleanup workers; and provides information consistent with OSHA and USCG regulations. Here, workers learn how to handle recovered oil and other hazardous wastes resulting from the oil spill cleanup effort. The program identifies waste management priorities: eliminating the waste, reducing the amount of waste, recycling the waste, treating the waste, and disposing of the waste. Other topics include recycling standards for waste oil, temporary storage options for bulk oil, oil/water separation, vacuum trucks, how to extract emulsions, and disposal and reclamation procedures..
