COURSE OVERVIEW


This training on air monitoring, the first in a two-part series, covers contamination assessment for a hazardous materials incident. A hazardous material incident may involve the release of air contaminants, posing a risk to emergency responders, civilians in the area and to the environment. The course provides explanations of air contaminants, fixed monitoring, direct reading instruments, personal air sampling, incident size-up, entering the hot zone, the command post, monitoring the hot zone and decontamination. Use this course to provide emergency responders with the information to approach air contamination during a hazardous material incident..
