COURSE OVERVIEW
Commercial big-rigs weigh twenty to thirty times that of the average vehicle requiring an extremely powerful engine to operate; however, even more important than making them move is what makes them stop. The brakes on a heavy truck are ten times more powerful than the engine and composed of a complex system of air compressors and activation techniques. This course features brake system diagrams, safety inspection checklists, and real life warnings about the hazards of deficient braking systems. The two most common types of braking systems are explained in detail and followed by a lesson in braking methods and maintenance..
