COURSE OVERVIEW

OSHA has developed standards around proper procedures to control hazardous energy. Energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal can be hazardous to workers. During the servicing and maintenance of machines and equipment, the unexpected or unintended startup or release of stored energy can result in serious injury or death to individuals without implementing certain safeguard measures. This course dives into implementing appropriate lockout/tagout processes and procedures to effectively prevent accidents. The course covers when lockout/tagout procedures are required, the Energy Control Plan, authorized employees, lockout/tagout devices, the steps of a lockout/tagout procedure, and returning equipment to a serviceable state post-lockout. Use this course among all staff who work with or around the maintenance and utilization of these complex machines and pieces of equipment to ensure safe and effective protocols are implemented and followed..
